Auch die Gesellschaft in Deutschland ist durch ein weites Spektrum von vielfältiger Ethnie, Sprache, Herkunft, Nationalität und Religion gekennzeichnet. Dabei spielen im Zusammenleben von Menschen mit zum Teil sehr unterschiedl. Kulturen nicht selten ethnische Vorurteile eine zentrale Rolle, welche das soziale Miteinander in allen Schichten u. Bereichen zum Teil enorm beeinflussen. Doch wie entsteht die Bereitschaft im Menschen, Vorurteile gegenüber ethnischen Gruppen aufzubauen und sie zu einem Bestandteil seines Denkens und Handelns zu machen? Mit dieser Frage nach der Entstehung und dem Wesen von ethn. Vorurteilen in Deutschland beschäftigt sich die vorliegende Arbeit. Dazu werden vier bekannte sozialpsychologische Vorurteilstheorien näher beleuchtet. Zu diesen gehören: die Lerntheorie, die Konflikttheorie, der psychodynamische Ansatz und die kognitive Theorie. Die Hausarbeit beginnt mit der Erläuterung von den Begriffen Stereotyp, (ethnisches) Vorurteil und soz. Diskriminierung. Danach erfolgt die Darstellung der Vorurteilstheorien. Im Anschluss werden Auswirkungen auf die Opfer von Vorurteilen beschrieben. Abschließend werden Präventions- und Interventions-maßnahmen aufgezeigt, die Vorurteile abbauen bzw. sie verhindern sollen. 2. Begriffserläuterungen 2.1 Stereotyp Stereotype sind die ungeprüfte Generalisierung einer Gruppe von Menschen, bei der allen Angehörigen identische Eigenschaften zugeschrieben werden, ungeachtet individueller Unterschiede unter Mitgliedern. Der Begriff Stereotyp stammt aus dem Griechischen und setzt sich aus stereos (starr, hart, fest) und typos (Entwurf, feste Norm, charakteristisches Gepräge) zusammen. Ursprünglich wurde dieser Begriff im 18. Jahrhundert im Buchdruckergewerbe verwendet und beschrieb den mechanisch determinierten Prozess des Drucks mit feststehender, unveränderlicher Schrift. 1922 gelangte der Begriff des Stereotyps durch den Journalisten Walter Lippmann („Public Opinion“) auch in die Sozialwissenschaften.
