El primero, Viaje a un nuevo pasado, es una ruta desde Lima por la costa del Pacífico hacia el norte hasta llegar a Tumbes, en la frontera con Ecuador. Realizado junto a la redactora de gastronomía Rosa Rivas, fuimos acompañadas por un arqueólogo que nos introdujo a los más importantes yacimientos arqueológicos, algunos de ellos bastante recientes, de culturas anteriores a la de los incas. El más relevante es la tumba del famoso Señor de Sipán, cuyo hallazgo ha sido comparado por su importancia con el de la tumba de Tutankamon. Unos apuntes a la riqueza y variedad de la comida de la región y algunos lugares dignos de ser visitados completan ese periplo.En julio de 2011 se cumplieron 100 años del descubrimiento de Machu Picchu, la impresionante ciudadela inca cercana al Cusco. El aventurero estadounidense Hiram Bingham es el descubridor oficial, aunque ha habido otros que han reclamado ese título. Casado con una mujer rica y movido por el deseo de ser famoso, la vida de Bingham se trenza con la historia como si fuera un personaje de novela. Ambos con Rubem Dantas tocando el cajón por primera vez en la historia de esa música. Hoy muchos piensan que el cajón flamenco siempre estuvo allí.
