Vorurteile fallen nicht einfach vom Himmel, sondern verfestigen sich von Generation zu Generation, oder werden aufgrund sozialer Konfliktsituationen im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes „entworfen“. Früher bezog sich das „praejudicium“ (lat.: das Vorurteil; vorhergehendes Urteil) auf Erfahrungen und Entscheidungen. Vorurteile wurden in der Metaphysik (Descartes, Leibniz usw.) zur philosophischen Wahrheit erklärt. Was dem Vorurteil eher eine positive Deutung gab, im
Gegensatz zur heutigen Darstellung des Vorurteils, als eine negative stereotype Aussage oder Meinung, wie z. Bsp. bei Allport (1971): „Ein ethnisches Vorurteil ist eine Form von Feindseligkeit in zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen…“ (Six,1978, S. 14).
Als kollektives vorurteilsbeladenes Generationenbild trifft dies bei Sinti und Roma zu; denn ich kann mich noch erinnern, wie Eltern und Großeltern über diese marginalisierte Volksgruppe sprachen. Regelrechte Diskriminierungskampagnen, wie: „Achtung die Zigeuner kommen, alles wegschließen“ oder „sei vorsichtig, Zigeuner sind gefährlich“ usw., folgten.
Während meiner einjährigen Arbeit mit Sinti und Roma in Straubing konnte ich dieses negativ tradierte Bild immer noch spüren. Fast resignierend musste ich feststellen, dass sich an den Erfahrungen meiner Kindheit bis heute kaum etwas geändert hat. Diese erschreckende Erkenntnis gab mir den Anstoß, mich mit den Mechanismen des Phänomens Vorurteil intensiver auseinanderzusetzen. Denn nur durch Kenntnis der psychologischen und sozialen Zusammenhänge von Vorurteils-
und Stereotypenbildung ist es m.E. möglich effektiv Gegenmaßnahmen und
Umdenkungsprozesse einzuleiten.
Die nun vorliegende Magisterarbeit stellt das Ergebnis meiner Bemühungen zur wissenschaftlichen Auseinandersetzung mit dem Thema Vorurteil dar.[...]
