In meiner Hausarbeit über Winckelmann, Antikensehnsucht und Dresdner Antikenkäufe im 18. Jahrhundert, gebe ich einen Einblick in die Zeit des Augusteischen Zeitalters, erkläre die Bedeutung der Antike für Dresden und beschreibe das Leben Winckelmanns, das durch Antikensehnsucht, Dresden und seinen Italienaufenthalt stark geprägt wurde.

1. Geschichtlicher Hintergrund

1.1 Die Wiedergeburt der Antike

Zur Zeit der Renaissance, mit dem Auffinden bedeutender antiker Kunstschätze , erwachte in Italien das Interesse an der eigenen Vergangenheit. Man studierte Literatur, Architektur und Kunst, alles was Auskunft über Macht und Schönheit des großen Römischen Reiches gab. Die Vorstellungen von der perfekt organisierten Gesellschaft und der weitentwickelten Wissenschaft erweckten eine Sehnsucht nach der alten Lebensweise. Man kopierte Literatur, Architektur und Kunst, und ließ damit die Antike wieder aufleben.
