Dementsprechend sind mittlerweile mehr als 75% der neu zugelassenen Fahrzeuge geleast oder über monatliche Raten finanziert. 2 Mit 40% Neuwagenpenetrationsrate (Anteil der finanzierten Fahrzeuge an der Gesamtheit der verkauften Fahrzeuge eines Jahres) 3 sind die Leasings- und Finanzierungsgesellschaften der Autohersteller in diesem Segment Marktführer vor allen anderen Kreditinstituten und beschränken sich bei ihrem „Siegeszug“ auch nicht mehr nur auf die Finanzierung von Kraftfahrzeugen, sondern entwickeln sich nach und nach zu Vollbanken. Dabei überbieten sie ihre Konkurrenz deutlich an Wirtschaftlichkeit. Mit einer Cost-Income-Ratio (Aufwands- / Ertragsverhältnis) von 40% bis 55% 4 arbeiten sie wesentlich effizienter als der Durchschnitt der deutschen Kreditbanken mit 74% 5 und erreichen so eine Eigenkapitalrendite von über 40% (VW-Bank und GMAC-Bank) 6 , einige sogar von mehr als 100% (BMW Financial Services) 7 , mit der sie den RoE 8 der Sparkassen (11,07%) und Kreditgenossenschaften (10,55%) im Mittel vervierfachen. 9 Mit durchschnittlich 10% Wachstum pro Jahr heben sie sich stark vom innerdeutschen Wirtschaftswachstum ab und gestalten dabei das Selbstverständnis ihrer Mutterkonzerne von Produzenten zu Mobilitätskonzernen um 10 .
