In dieser Diplomarbeit beschäftige ich mich mit dem Kinderspiel. Mein Interesse dafür entstand zu Anfang meines Pädagogikstudiums im Oktober 1996. Damals sah ich kurz vor Beginn meines ersten Semesters in der philosophischen Fakultät einen Aushang der Jugendförderung Kirchhain, die eine Honorarkraft für ihren „Spielepool“ suchten. Da ich neben dem Studium pädagogisch tätig sein wollte und mich die Ausschreibung der Jugendförderung ansprach, erkundigte ich mich dort hinsichtlich der Mitarbeit als Spielpool – Betreuer. Ich vereinbarte telefonisch einen Termin mit dem Stadtjugendpfleger und wurde von ihm einige Wochen später zu einem Treffen ins Jugendkulturzentrum in Kirchhain eingeladen. Bei diesem Treffen zeigte er mir den „Spielepool“, der aus einer Sammlung von über 150 Tisch-, Brett- und Kartenspielen bestand. Er erklärte mir, dass die Aufgabe des künftigen, nebenamtlichen Mitarbeiters darin bestand, mit den im Stadtjugendring angeschlossenen Jugendgruppen und den Jugendklubs Spielnachmittage, bzw. Spielabende zu veranstalten, sowie die Ausleihe der Spiele zu verwalten. Ich zeigte Interesse an dieser Arbeit und bekam die Zusage für den Job. In den folgenden Monaten stellte sich jedoch heraus, dass das Spielangebot bei den Jugendgruppen nur geringe Resonanz fand. Daher beschloss die Jugendförderung, Spielnachmittage für Kinder im Jugendkulturzentrum anzubieten. Es entstand der „Spieleladen“, der Spielenachmittag für Kinder von 6 bis 12 Jahren. Dieses Angebot hielt sich lange als Dauerprogramm des Spielepools, das ich insgesamt 3 ½ Jahre machte. Als Spielebetreuer führte ich im Laufe der Zeit auch verschiedene Sonderveranstaltungen durch, darunter die Siedler – Turniere und die Kirchhainer Kinderspielejury – Testtage. Die Idee zur Kinderspielejury kam mir, als ich bemerkte, dass einige neue, von Erwachsenen empfohlene Gesellschaftsspiele, die wir jährlich für den Spielepool anschafften, unseren Kindern keinen Spaß bereiteten. Deshalb luden wir Kinder aus Kirchhain und den Stadtteilen ein, neue Brett – und Kartenspiele selbst auszuprobieren und anschließend zu bewerten. Die benötigten Spiele liehen wir zunächst von einem Spielwarengeschäft aus. Anschließend kauften wir die beliebtesten Spiele ein. Die Kinderspielejury war zugleich der Vorläufer der im Jahr 2000 entstandenen Kinderspielecrew, in der Kinder an verschiedenen Orten im deutschsprachigen Raum zusammenkommen, um Gesellschaftsspiele zu testen.
