Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2006 im Fachbereich Anglistik - Literatur, Note: 2,0, Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen (Anglistik und Amerikanistik), Veranstaltung: Seminar, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die Kurzgeschichte stammt aus dem Jahr 1841, wo sie erstmals in „The Gift: A Christmas and New Year´s Present for 1842“ veröffentlicht wurde. Nach der Erstveröffentlichung fügte Poe der Kurzgeschichte ein Motto hinzu. Die Kurzgeschichte wurde dann 1845 erneut unter Einbeziehung verschiedener Änderungen seitens des Autors veröffentlicht. In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird die Kurzgeschichte „Eleonora“ interpretiert, die aufgrund ihrer romantischen Merkmale eine Sonderstellung im Gesamtwerk des amerikanischen Schriftstellers und Dichters Edgar Allen Poe einnimmt. Grundlage für die Interpretation sollen eigene Interpretationsansätze unter Einbeziehung bereits bestehender Ansätze sein. Die Arbeit wird zunächst auf bestimmte, für die Interpretation relevante Abschnitte der Biographie des Autors eingehen. Ferner soll ein Schwerpunkt auf dem von Poe gewählten Motto und dem Titel liegen. Weiterhin wird eine Unterteilung der Kurzgeschichte stattfinden, die die einzelnen Sinnabschnitte der Arbeit augenscheinlich machen soll. Abschließend soll die Kurzgeschichte in einzelnen Abschnitten interpretiert werden, um eine kohärente Interpretation des gesamten Textes zu ermöglichen.
