Auch wenn über das Leben eines Wolfram von Eschenbach nur gemutmaßt werden kann, so liegt uns in diesem Fall nicht einmal der Name des Schriftstellers vor.
Trotz allem bleibt er uns nicht vollständig verborgen, da es im KR zahlreiche Textstellen gibt, in denen der Epiker aus der Erzählung hervortritt. Die Analyse dieser Ausschnitte, der die Textausgabe von Peter Stein zugrundeliegt, ist Gegenstand der vorliegenden Arbeit. Dabei ist die zentrale Frage, ob Informationen über die Erzählerpersönlichkeit gewonnen werden können, wobei die Diskussion, ob es sich beim Erzähler um einen Spielmann handelte, nicht aufgegriffen werden soll.
Hierzu werden die entsprechenden Belege aus dem Text in Kategorien zusammengefasst und interpretiert. Zunächst werden die Textstellen näher betrachtet, bei denen der Autor auf eine zugrundeliegende Quelle verweist und die Wahrheit seiner Erzählung beteuert. Desweiteren ist die Verwendung des Gedankenstrichs und exklamatorischer Formeln auffällig, mit denen sich, zusammen mit den direkten Publikumsanreden, eingehender beschäftigt wird. Zuletzt richtet sich der Fokus der Analyse auf Aussagen, in denen der Erzähler als moralische Instanz oder Normgeber fungiert.
Daran anschließend folgt eine Diskussion, die die gewonnenen Ergebnisse in den Kontext der bisherigen Forschung setzt.
In einem letzten Schritt sollen die Resultate der vorherigen Arbeitsschritte prägnant zusammengefasst werden.
