Hier schreibt ein Mann um sein Leben. Katharina Rettich hat für ihren Kurz-Krimi einen Ich-Erzähler erfunden, der argumentativ sein Bestes gibt, um sein Leben und das seiner Tochter zu retten. Psychologisch genau zeigt die Autorin das Bild eines Kleinkriminellen, der sich plötzlich auf der Seite der Opfer befindet und nach Schutz verlangt. Die Zweitplatzierte dreht die genretypischen Verhältnisse um und stellt so die übliche Bewertung von Gut und Böse in Frage.

Diese Behauptung stellt Carina Kalb in ihrem Kurz-Krimi kühn und zugleich kunstvoll unter Beweis. Ein fast unbemerkt gebliebener Mord an einer Gärtnerin um die Weihnachtszeit. Die Autorin versammelt alle Zutaten für eine Krimi-Geschichte und setzt dann mit einer Fülle an Informationen, Vermutungen und Details die Verknüpfungsmaschinen im Hirn des Lesers in Gang. Der sezierende Ton, den Carina Kalb gewählt hat, verstärkt das Gefühl in etwas großem Unübersichtlichen gefangen zu sein, obwohl man sich, genau wie der Inspektor Brosch einbildet, den Durchblick zu behalten.
