Durch die Veränderung unserer Gesellschaft verändern sich auch die Lernformen, mittels derer Wissen vermittelt und zur Anwendung gebracht werden kann. In der heutigen Mediengesellschaft spielen Bücher und geschriebene Texte zwar weiterhin eine wichtige Rolle der Wissensvermittlung, aber es kommen neue mediale Formen hinzu. Ein Beispiel dafür ist der rasante Aufbau des World Wide Web, das am 6. August 1991 weltweit zur allgemeinen Benutzung freigegeben wurde und im Jahr 2007 von über 1,23 Milliarden Menschen genutzt wurde.
In der Bundesrepublik Deutschland nutzen 76% der Berufstätigen zwischen 14 und 64 Jahren derzeit das Internet. Dabei nutzen 21% häufiger, um Informationen für Schule, Ausbildung oder Beruf zu beschaffen. Derzeit sind die wichtigsten Informationsquellen auch von Internetnutzern über das aktuelle Geschehen noch das Fernsehen und die Zeitungen, aber es zeigt sich ein kontinuierlicher Zuwachs für das Internet. Dabei zeigt sich ein generationenspezifisches Nutzungsmuster für Multimedia und User-generated Content: die Nutzung fällt kontinuierlich ab bei zunehmendem Alter, während der Produzentenkreis insgesamt wächst.
Wenn die Bedeutung der Neuen Medien für die (Bildungs-) Gesellschaft steigt, dann tritt die Bedeutung des Lehrenden als Motivator und Koordinator sowohl des Lernstoffes als auch des Lerntempos zurück. Die Aufgabe, die bisher diesem zufiel, wird nun nicht mehr von einer anderen Person übernommen, sondern muss durch den Lernenden selbst erbracht werden. Insofern ist es nur konsequent, die volitionalen und emotionalen Aspekte des Lernens auf das Lehren mit Neuen Medien zu beziehen und diese aus psychologisch-pädagogischer Sicht zu untersuchen. Dies werden wir in der vorliegenden Hausarbeit zuerst theoretisch erläutern, dann anhand ausgewählter Beispiele verdeutlichen.
