Auch die Antworten darauf fallen bei wenigen so vielfältig und oft widersprüchlich aus. Trotz seiner extrem kurzen Schaffenszeit, seiner wenigen Werke, die zum Teil Fragmente geblieben sind, wird er bis heute als literarisches Genie gehandelt und in eine Reihe mit Goethe gestellt. Das Problematischste an Büchner ist wahrscheinlich seine Art, Stile, Aussagen und Haltungen zu kopieren und ihnen gleichzeitig auf sehr subtile Weise seinen eigenen Stempel aufzudrücken. So kann Büchner gleichzeitig zu vielen literarischen Strömungen und Autorengruppen zugeordnet werden, aber bei genauerem Hinsehen auch wieder nicht. So würden viele auf Anhieb behaupten, dass Büchner ein Realist war und z.B. auf den hohen Prozentsatz der verwendeten Zitate in Dantons Tod verweisen. Andere würden beim gleichen Werk jedoch einwerfen, dass ein Realist doch wohl nicht eine der weiblichen Hauptfiguren sterben lassen würde, obwohl diese im wahren Leben Büchner sogar überlebte. War Georg Büchner nun Realist oder nicht? In dieser Arbeit soll nun versucht werden, auf diese eine von vielen Fragen eine Antwort anbieten und begründen zu können.
