Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2007 im Fachbereich Filmwissenschaft, Note: 2,0, Universität Trier, Veranstaltung: Vampire im Film, 9 Quellen im Literaturverzeichnis, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Der Stummfilmklassiker „Nosferatu – Eine Symphonie des Grauens“ des Berliner Regisseurs Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau entsteht 1922 zu einer Zeit, als das Medium Film noch in seinen Kinderschuhen steckt und ist zugleich die erste erhaltene Verfilmung, in der eine Vampirgestalt auftaucht. Murnaus „Nosferatu“ wurde im Laufe der Filmgeschichte Vorbild für unzählige Vampire im Film und findet auch fast 90 Jahre nach seiner Uraufführung im Zoopalast in Berlin unzählige Rezipiente.
„Nosferatu“ gilt weithin als erste filmische Adaption des „Dracula“-Romans von 1897 des irischen Schriftstellers Bram Stoker. Zwar existierte schon kurz nach dem Erscheinen dieses Schauerromans eine Theaterfassung, doch „das nur einmal zu Bram Stokers Lebzeiten gespielte Stück war indessen lediglich eine dialogisierte Romanfassung, die mehr als vier Stunden dauerte“. Es bedurfte deshalb der Arbeit des Drehbuchautors Henrik Galeen, das Drehbuch für die Verfilmung zu verfassen. Da Murnau die Rechte an Stokers Roman nicht bekam, konnte „Dracula“ nicht originalgetreu übernommen werden.
Letzte Reste der Theaterfassung Draculas lassen sich in Galeens Drehbuch und der fertigen Verfilmung nicht von der Hand weisen. So ist es nicht zuletzt die dramaturgische Strukturierung des Films, die den Film dem Theater verhaften. Diese klassische dramatische Struktur, wie sie schon Aristoteles in seiner Poetik propagiert scheint also auch in diesem Frühwerk der Filmgeschichte erfolgreich angewandt worden zu sein. Es bietet sich daher an, die dramatische Struktur Nosferatus und ihre Wirkung auf den Filmrezipienten einmal näher zu beleuchten und sie auch an modernen Maßstäben der Dramaturgie zu messen.
Grundlage dieser Filmanalyse soll daher das populäre „Handbuch zum Drehbuch“ des international bekannten Drehbuchautors Syd Field sein, das verspricht, eine „Anleitung zu einem guten Drehbuch“ zu liefern. Dabei wird vorausgestellt, dass Fields Theorie sich hauptsächlich auf den US-Spielfilm bezieht und den europäischen Film aufgrund dessen Verhaftung an einem erhöhten künstlerischen Anspruch bewusst ausklammert. Dennoch ist es Ziel dieser Arbeit, Parallelen zwischen der Struktur Nosferatus und der Dramaturgie eines sogenannten „Blockbusters“ aufzuzeigen und Widersprüche zu erläutern.
Die vorliegende Arbeit möchte durch die eingehende Analyse der Handlungsstruktur einen Schlüssel zum besseren Verständnis dieser ersten „Draculaverfilmung“ bieten.
