Diplomarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich Touristik / Tourismus, Note: gut , Universität Wien, 45 Quellen im Literaturverzeichnis, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Bei der ethnologischen Tourismusforschung handelt es sich um ein sehr weites, facettenreiches Forschungsfeld. Arbeiten thematisieren beispielsweise die Interaktion von Reisenden und Bereisten oder auch Konsequenzen des (Massen-)Tourismus für die lokale Bevölkerung und deren Lebensweise. Andere Forschungen hingegen beschäftigen sich mit modernen Formen von Mobilität oder der Analyse von Freizeit- und Themenparks.
Um sich mit Thematiken wie diesen auseinanderzusetzen ist es jedoch, auch wenn dies zweifellos sehr reizvoll wäre, nicht unbedingt notwendig ein Forschungsgebiet am anderen Ende der Welt auszuwählen. Touristische Räume befinden sich auch hier, praktisch direkt vor unsrer Haustür. Österreich ist eines der Länder mit der höchsten Tourismusintensität weltweit und demnach als Forschungsgebiet bestens geeignet.

Es erschien mir daher interessant „anthropology at home“ zu betreiben und Wien, die Stadt, in der ich geboren und aufgewachsen bin, einmal aus einem ganz anderen Blickwinkel zu betrachten und unter dem Motto: „Zuhause und trotzdem weit weg“ die Welt zu erkunden. Es war spannend, Gewohntes zu hinterfragen und aus einer ganz anderen Sichtweise zu erfahren.

Bei der Wahl eines für die Durchführung dieser Forschung geeigneten Raums stieß ich auf die Homepage des „WienTourismus“. Hier findet man unter der Rubrik „72 Stunden in Wien“ einige Vorschläge zur Gestaltung eines Kurzurlaubs in der österreichischen Hauptstadt. Bereits am ersten Abend in Wien wird den Reisenden ein Besuch beim Heurigen vorgeschlagen. Beschreibungen wie: „ein urwienerisches Abendvergnügen“, „nothing more authentic than an evening at a Heurigen“ oder ein „plaisir viennois par exellence“ suggerieren ein „typisches“ Wienerlebnis. Doch was hat es mit dieser „typischen, authentischen, urwienerischen“ Attraktion auf sich? Wenn ich an den Heurigen denke, denke ich an Sonntagsausflüge, Zitronenkracherl, weißen Spritzer und laue Sommernächte, an ungezwungenes Beisammensein. Doch wie wird der Heurige von anderen wahrgenommen? Welche Motivationen haben Touristen den Heurigen zu besuchen?
